Jai's Dahl - Yellow-Split Pea Curried Soup (Vegan/Gluten-Free) $8

Yellow-split peas are boiled to a perfect gritty tenderness. We take our favorite curry powder (the main one used in Guyana) and marry it to a roasted garlic tomato base, add onions, a hint of salt and black pepper and magic. We mix it all together to make the perfect one-handed soup/cup for those colder days. This is the best version of Dahl or Daal on the west coast.

Bake

Bake Unfilled (Vegan) $4

Dubbed the "Royal Pastry," this is the one bread to rule them all. Bake is a Guyanese semi-sweet handheld puff bread. Made of just flour, water, sugar, baking powder, and love and flash-fried to puffy perfection. And when its golden tender outer edge is pierced, it reveals a luscious steamy doughy center. This is possibly the best version of Bake on Planet Earth and one of the best breads of Portland in general. My mother’s special recipe is made daily for your edible enjoyment. It's the very meaning of comfort food.

Bake Filled

1 Bake Filled for $10, Any 2 Bake Filled for $15

The most traditional serving style. Steamy sweet Bake is opened up and stuffed with Salfish, aka Bacalhau (a Portuguese salted cod) where we burn off a lot of the salt, mince it up and add it to eggs, scallions, onions, tomatoes, and hit it with a hint of black pepper. Usually served Sunday mornings within the family and the world’s most deliciously unique salty sweet combination ever!

Potato Chicken Curry Rice Bowl (Gluten-Free) $18

This is my favorite dish on the menu. It’s one of Guyana’s three national dishes and we literally do one of the world’s best versions. Chef Bibi has mastered it; refining her recipe over 35+ years to produce the most soulful and heart-warming version possible. Guyanese curry is married to a sautéed tomato base and hit with some garlic salt, a little bit more salt, onions, some black pepper, love, magic, and water to mix it all up. Extremely tender chicken and potato is marinated overnight in it. It’s utterly amazing, like an artist drawing a circle perfectly freehand. Our most popular meat entree.

Combination Bowl (Gluten Free) Any of the above 3 for $13, with PCC for $18)

If variety is the spice of life, this is the fiber of life's best moments. Any combination of any three on basmati rice. It can be vegan or not but is always gluten-free.
